The British Museum

Soundtrack:

A great quote, from Tennyson, in the front doorway.

'Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!' The poem 'Ozymandias' was apparently written with this picture (of Ramses II, they think) in mind.

Norse chess pieces, over a thousand years old, found on the Scottish Isle of Lewis. Also, my favorite exhibit in the entire British Museum.

The Reading Room of the British Museum, with beautiful reading desks; also where Karl Marx did a lot of his writing (when he wasn't confined to his home, having pawned all his clothes so he could eat).

A Roman dog statue, in the foyer of the Museum.

A horse, stolen from the Acropolis by Sir Elgin.

Hammurapi's Code, with a bull of Sargon's in the background.

I'm sure it's an interesting story of how the Rosetta stone, found by one of Napoleon's soldiers, wound up in the British Museum. But I'm too lazy to research it.

One of Sargon II's bulls, with the obligatory shit-eating grin.
